Justin Grantham

Justin Grantham was elected the Fremont County Clerk and Recorder in 2018 and took office in 2019.  For generations, his family has worked in Real Estate by buying, renting, and selling property and appraisal work.  Grantham, before taking office, worked in the Assessor’s Office conducting land and mineral research, subdivision changes, and data analysis for 4 years.  The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.  With the family history and the experience in the Assessor’s office, working in the Clerk’s office was a natural transition as the Recording Division in the Clerk’s office holds all the real estate records for the entire county.

Though the statutory role of the clerk is diverse such as elections and vehicle titles and registrations, Grantham has focused primarily on recording in Fremont County.  Updating, upgrading, and providing access to as many records as possible.  His focus extends to online access, digitizing records, preserving original documents, and provide the best service to customers.  He has expanded his office to giving presentations on document searching, how to record, setting up notifications on recorded documents and what is in the records of the Clerk’s office.  He believes that as the world changes his office must and should adapt to with it to assure that services can still be accessed.

Grantham currently serves as the Recording Legislative Co-Chair for the Colorado County Clerk’s Association and is currently leadership and will be President of the Association in 2023.  He provides constant advice and best practices for other clerks’ office when it comes to recording documents.  He has given testimony on recording at the state legislature and worked with the Governor’s office during COVID to make sure that recording could continue to function as to not hinder the real estate economy.

Grantham says,” I will continue to work to ensure that the real estate economy and access to records stays strong in Colorado.”
